Over past few months I have been really struggling with my depression. In a way to manage my feelings I started writing poems. Here is one I wrote today.
Time is a great healer so they say
Take away my hurt every day I pray
Over and over life knocks me down
Nothing I can do but stand and frown
Each day gets harder, I am drowning
Darkness looms, it’s always prowling
Trying to see past all the pain
All I can see is dullness of rain
No sunshine or clear skies await for me
My life just wasn’t meant to be
Please try not to feel abandoned, angry or sad
Calmness washes over me now in my new pad
I’ve been selfish, died like a bee
Know I am at rest, finally free
Poetry and art are great stress relievers arent they?
Be well over the holidays (talk about stress).
So great to meet you and thanks for your visit

Poetry is a wonderful way of channelling how we are feeling, as is writing in general! It’s a way of releasing bottled up emotions which otherwise could drown us in despair. It’s a beautiful heartfelt poem that shows where you are just now but not where you will always be! it is often in our darkest times that we produce our best writing. Keep writing and think about how in nature there are clouds and thunderstorms, and then the sun comes out once more and there is the miracle of the rainbow. Without the thunderstorms there would be no rainbows. May you find your rainbow after the storm! Sending you best wishes! 🙂

It’s when things seem the darkest that we often see the light. Life IS beautiful! Don’t ever forget it. You are surrounded by Love.

I hope a tiny ray of sunshine breaks through the clouds for you.
That the darkness finally lifts and a dawn of new hope shines on you.

Have you ever read any of my post? I have been through more than most people my age including losing a son to suicide three years ago. I highly encourage you if you haven’t already download a Bible app and whenever you can as much as you can listen to the audio of Psalms and the gospels. In some of my most difficult and dark days that’s how I survived. I sincerely believe depression can include spiritual oppression and filling your mind with scripture really helps. So does prayer so I will be praying for you!

Hi, thanks for sharing your poem. I have a few posts on Depression on my blog if you feel like having a look. They may or may not help give you an overview/ different angle on depression, depending on what your underlying cause is. If I can help at all please feel free to email. I know what it’s like to be in that place. Take care, Stephen https://therapyglasgow.com/blog/
